GOSPEL IM OSTEN was founded in 2005 in the Evang. Heilandsgemeinde in the eastern part of Stuttgart, starting with 30 singers and now counting 500 voices or more in current projects. At Gospel im Osten, everyone can and should sing, regardless of previous knowledge, age, or background. Choral work brings people together – and onto the stage. In 2016, our choir performed the Advent project "My World Needs You," and in 2017, the recordings for this album took place.
We aim to inspire people with the power of communal gospel singing. It's about more than music. Gospel is meant to be lived, to touch and build up. It's close to God and humanity simultaneously, as well as to the everyday, the highs, and the challenges of life. Groove and spirit in which the heart recognizes itself. In the honest and powerful music, my faith finds space – and a shared experience: singing is a matter of joy.
MY WORLD NEEDS YOU is a confession. A declaration that our world cannot be self-sufficient. It needs hope, sincerity, loyalty, passion, and refreshment, lightness, humility, and the courage to embrace simplicity. It needs perspectives – and constant comfort. It needs an interlocutor. It needs you.
