Witty Strolls through 300 Years
In the anniversary year of "Ludwigsburg – 300 Years of Cityhood," the original version of the radio play from 2009 was streamlined, expanded, and updated – after all, a lot has happened in Ludwigsburg in the past ten years!
The radio play tells the story of the city's origins in a very entertaining, amusing, and informative way: When Carina, a young screenwriter and student at the Film Academy, arrives in Ludwigsburg, she meets Jakob Wolkenstein. Jakob, the assistant to the city scribe who fell out of favor in the early 18th century and has since roamed Ludwigsburg as a restless spirit, knows the city like the back of his hand and invites Carina on city walks.
In this way, she – and the listeners – learn, for example, what was particularly important to the architect Frisoni during the construction of the palace and in the general city planning, and why there are no front gardens in the city center. Or that inventions like matches, the active ingredient in aspirin, or the toilet paper roll originated in Ludwigsburg. She also learns what the soldier's town looked like in times of peace or which woman was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on her 90th birthday.
Bonus Track:
For the city's anniversary "300 Years of Becoming a City," Bas Böttcher created a poetry slam about the city.
